Greenland Crater Ruled Out as Cause of Younger Dryas

Researchers revisit their original dating scenario

A new study by the same team, that in 2018 identified an immense impact crater beneath Greenland’s Hiawatha Glacier as resulting from a space-bolide hit that about 12,500 years ago, might have triggered the Younger Dryas ice age, now assigns a much older date to the site. The crater, say the scientists, was probably created about 58 million years ago, thus probably ruling out any connection with the Younger Dryas (the “little ice age). The new study was published in March, 2022, in the journal Science Advances (https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/sciadv.abm2434).

Nonetheless, whether or not, the Hiawatha crater, resulted from the same event that brought on the little ice age, does not change the fact that a great catastrophe of some kind certainly occurred at about that time. From evidence of mass megafaunal (woolly mammoths, etc.) extinctions, to the Missoula megafloods; from nanometer-sized diamonds found in sedimentary layers extending across vast regions of the American west (https://www.researchgate.net/publication/322875340_Extraordinary_Biomass-Burning_Episode_and_Impact_Winter_Triggered_by_the_Younger_Dryas_Cosmic_Impact_12800_Years_Ago_1_Ice_Cores_and_Glaciers), to the dialogues of Plato, evidence for the cataclysm is overwhelming. Something very bad happened to the planet at that time. We may not have yet found an actual bullet hole, but there can be no doubt that humanity on Earth suffered a great wound from something, and may not yet be recovered.

Maybe it is time to take a new look at the ‘Carolina Bays,’ thousands of yet unexplained elongated depressions scattered across several states, that appear to originate from the same event. In the 1960s German scientist Otto Muck argued that the ‘bays’ were caused by a disintegrating asteroid, just before it struck and destroyed Atlantis.
